The Importance of Alterations

The Importance of Alterations

After months of searching for your dream dress, we totally understand that you want to take it home right away, but we can't stress enough how important alterations are. Since you picked out the perfect gown, wouldn't you want the fit to be perfect, too? Having your dress altered by a professional wedding seamstress is as important as the dress itself, and here’s why:

Some brides assume alterations aren't necessary since they fell in love with their dress the moment they tried it on. Our goal at Samila Bridal & Formal is to make sure every gown fits perfectly, and we've found that most dresses need some help to fit right!

Our tailors start alterations about 6-9 weeks before the wedding depending on what needs to get done. They will do the hem and bustle right away, along with any other major changes you request right away, such as adding sleeves, embellishments, or neckline adjustments. They schedule a second fitting if needed and the final fitting will be about 1-2 weeks before the wedding. After each of these steps is completed, you will be overwhelmed with gratitude to have a gown that fits you like a glove and truly makes you shine on your wedding day!

Here at Samila Bridal & Formal, we’re proud to have two incredible in-house seamstresses for our beautiful brides to use for their special day! These professionals work hard to make sure that your bridal gown is a dream come true.
